Juan C. (JC) Kreutz is Deputy Head of SMBC Group in the Americas, and Head of Structured Finance Solutions. JC is based in our New York Office.
In his role, JC is responsible for overseeing the bank’s structured product businesses, including Project Finance Debt & Advisory, Real Estate Finance, Leveraged Finance, Fund Finance, Transportation, Leasing, and Global Trade Finance, while also overseeing our Latin America region. The Americas team has been a consistent leader in project finance and advisory business, and a top five global provider of subscription finance.
Since JC joined the firm in 2014, he has brought a wealth of experience in investment and commercial banking in the U.S. and Latin America. Before being appointed to his current role, he was General Manager of the Global Structured Finance in the Americas, where he was responsible for overseeing several industry groups in North and South America: Power & New Energies, Infrastructure, Real Estate, Municipal Finance, and Latin American Corporate Finance.
Prior to SMBC, JC served at BBVA Securities, and he was one of the original members hired to build out the Debt Capital Markets (DCM) Group and the Head of Natural Resources DCM. Prior to BBVA, he was with Barclays as an Executive Director in its Energy Structured Finance Group within DCM. In this position, JC originated, structured, and led many commodity-linked financings involving term loan B facilities, high yield bonds, and commercial bank loans as well as working on structured finance and project finance transactions. Before joining Barclays, he worked at WestLB in the Energy Group, Credit Suisse in the Energy Investment Banking Group, and Merrill Lynch in its Latin American Investment Banking Group.
JC earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a finance and international business major from Georgetown University and a Master of Business Administration from The Stern School of Business at New York University. He holds FINRA Series 7, 24, 53, and 63 securities licenses.
