Chief Human Resources Officer

As Executive Officer and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for SMBC Americas, Robin Milberg is responsible for developing and executing the firm’s HR strategy across the region, partnering with the business to support growth, transformation, and organizational strength. She oversees the entire employee lifecycle, from recruitment to retirement, while optimizing HR technology, data, and operations.

Robin has extensive HR experience across global financial services, with particular strengths in talent acquisition, compensation, and organizational and cultural change. She is recognized as a thoughtful leader who places a strong emphasis on culture, inclusion and belonging, accountability, and bringing corporate values to life.

Robin joined SMBC in 2015 and served as MD and Head of Americas HR, where she led significant organizational change and executive-level hiring. She assumed the role of CHRO in 2022 and was appointed as an Executive Officer in 2026. Under her leadership, SMBC has been recognized by Forbes as one of America’s best employers since 2023.

Before joining SMBC, she spent eight years at the Royal Bank of Scotland in senior HR leadership roles across London and the U.S., following a decade in human resources at General Electric.

Robin holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Connecticut.
